We send greetings to our precious friends and family.  This will be our first attempt at a newsletter.  Only a couple of days after Bonny's retirement in June, we left for Honduras for one month.  If we have learned anything it is the need for prayer.  We saw successes and there were times we felt like failures.  However, God reassured us in 2 Corinthians 3:5-6 that even when we feel that we are not competent, God is competent. His spirit will give competence and life to our ministry if we depend on him alone.

We had big plans for retirement but God had other plans.  For those of you who think you are too old and gray to become a missionary, think again and check out Psalm 71:18 which says, "Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come".  We are proof positive that God can and does use willing vessels, even ones that are old, gray and look worn out.  Our desire is to declare God's power in some small way for the last part of our lives.

I'm not sure team members realize what an impact they make on missionaries.  So many times during that month I was encouraged by the heart of enthusiastic team members. This was a new experience and we are still praising God for all the things we learned from the four teams we were privileged to work beside in July.

We are looking forward to spending the month of October in Honduras.  Attending the pastor graduation is always an uplifting experience. There will be one team from Thomaston, Georgia working in Guaimaca during October and we look forward to what God can and will do through Trinity Baptist.

We spoke at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Rome, Georgia in August.  We had asked the church to consider giving shoeboxes filled with gifts for the pastors in Honduras. Imagine our delight when we saw 132 boxes placed on the Prayer Alter when we arrived.  It has been a privilege to work on getting the boxes ready to ship.  Each one is filled with gifts such as combs, soap, pens, flashlights etc. Our home church Antioch Baptist in Yatesville, Georgia is also working on boxes to be shipped as well. These boxes will be given to the pastors during the month of December.

Please continue to pray for us. Please contact us if we can help out in any way to help continue your service in Honduras. May God bless and keep you in His care.
