Adult Vocational Training
In an effort to break the cycle of poverty, we offer classes that teach sewing to interested Nicaraguans. These classes, which last for 9 months and are officially recognized by the government of Nicaragua, offer its students the chance to increase their earning potential as well as their ability to support their families and local church.
We have established several permanent clinics in Honduras and Nicaragua that operate year-round to meet everyday medical and dental needs, especially when Short-Term Mission Teams are not in the area.
These clinics charge a minimal fee to cover the stipend paid to the local attending physician or dentist. And patients receive their prescribed medications free of charge, many of which are donated from left-over team supplies.
Ladies Discipleship Ministry
In male-dominant cultures, women are often overlooked. In recent years, our missionary ladies have seen the need to minister specifically to the women who play a vital role in our churches. Six or seven times each year our missionaries hold weekend retreats for these ladies to encourage them in their personal and spiritual lives. They have a great time studying, praying, and playing together! And the encouragement naturally spills over into their local congregations.
More and more we are working toward developing the youth of our churches recognizing that they have a powerful witness in their schools and communities. Some of our pastors and missionaries are working hard to encourage the youth through on-going church youth programs and special retreats. Our hope is that these youth will continue to impact their peers and communities as they become future leaders.
