Karl and Beth Brassfield were approved by BMDMI's board to be missionaries in January 2005. The spent most of 2006 in language school in Costa Rica before arriving to Nicaragua in early 2007.  The Brassfields served in Nicaragua until 2018 having opened and operated the Emmmanuel Home of Protection for abused girls and young ladies.   In early 2017, Karl was asked to be the field director in Honduras and traveled between Nicaragua and Honduras until mid-2018 when his focus was turned completely to the ministry in Honduras. In 2020, Karl became the Central American coordinator for BMDMI and now oversees ministry operations in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
Karl and Beth are now based in Claremore, OK while Karl continues to travel to Central America. Karl and Beth have four grown children, Natalie (married to Christopher Calmes), Melanie, Emily and Isaac and one grandchild, Jania. They also have many other Nicaraguan "daughters" who they count as part of their extended family.
