Good Shepherd Children’s Home

GSCH group 2

The Good Shepherd Children’s Home (GSCH), a ministry of Baptist Medical and Dental Mission International, is a home where abused, neglected, or abandoned children are living, learning, and growing in Christ. The home is located in Zamorano, Honduras where we provide all the basic necessities such as shelter, food, clothing, and education.

Many children came to live at the GSCH because their parents simply could not afford to provide their basic needs. Others were removed from their homes by DINAF because they were living in extreme poverty, neglected, or abused. Currently, our home serves more than 90 children from infants to teenagers.

The GSCH provides medical, dental, nutritional, educational, psychological and spiritual care to the children. On nearly 70 acres, the GSCH property includes ten casitas (cottages), the Good Shepherd Christian Academy, the Library and Learning Center, a sewing center, swimming pool, full-service cafeteria, chapel, youth center, health and dental clinics, and a farm.

From week-long mission trips to summer internships, and even serving as a BMDMI Teacher at the Good Shepherd Christian Academy, volunteers are always welcomed at GSCH.

The flagship ministry of BMDMI is Short-Term Mission Teams, which sends more than 100 teams across the world each year to meet physical and spiritual needs. BMDMI’s Short-Term Mission Team ministry is life-changing for the volunteers, offering an opportunity for their faith to be put into action as they serve the “least of these” around the world.

For more information on joining or forming a BMDMI Short-Term Mission Team, or additional ways you can serve at the GSCH, contact BMDMI Team Coordinator, Chad Douglas via email or phone – 601.544.5007.

Sponsorships are available for each child at the Good Shepherd Children’s Home. For just $43 per month, you can help supply the food, shelter, clothing, education, and medical and dental care that a child needs. In order to be considered fully funded, a child needs ten (10) sponsors at $43 per month.
