Nicaragua Remote Assist Team

While most of us were enjoying Thanksgiving with our families, our BMDMI staff and several volunteers traveled to a remote area of Nicaragua to bring the Gospel message, medicine and food to people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the passing of two dangerous hurricanes. The trip was considered a remote assist team because it was sponsored by the Eric Paulsen team from Colorado.
Heysell Sandoval, a missionary applicant and nurse, shared this about her experience: My experience with the team was a little different. We have always worked together with North American brothers, but this time it was just Nicaraguan brothers. Although all of us tried to unite our forces and help one another in different areas, we missed the support and presence of our North American brothers. Only by the love, grace and mercy of God we were able work together as one body. In my country there are difficulties of many kinds -- policital, economic, and social, but the grace and faith in God has sustained us through the work in presenting the Gospel and God's redemptive work. I am thankful for the support and persistence of the Paulsen team who helped us to walk by faith and not by sight. God always sustains us.
During the week 173 people decided to give their lives to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. More than 1600 were seen in the clinics, more than 300 bibles given away, 900 family packs shared and more than 6000 prescriptions filled.
As soon as the team returned from the village, trucks were reloaded with supplies and a group headed to a remote village in the northern automous region close to where the hurricanes made landfall. We are thankful for the generous gifts that have been given to support the hurricane relief efforts in Nicaragua. We hope that these funds will allow us to develop a lont-term ministry in this area.
