Helping the Children - Nepal

A large part of our ministry in Nepal is helping children in need. Below are updates on two children that we have been able to help in the recent months.
Samjana was severely burned on over 70% of her body with third and fourth degree burns about a year ago. Through God’s grace and provision, we have been able to minister to this young girl and provide for her extensive ongoing medical needs.
In January of this year, Samjana underwent the first of what will be numerous skin grafts and reconstructive plastic surgeries in Kathmandu. As you read this, Samjana is currently in Kathmandu and awaiting her next surgery to repair damage to her hands and arms. We would greatly appreciate your prayers for her upcoming surgery and recovery in the days ahead. We pray that the Holy Spirit will work in her heart and the heart of her family and use our team in some small way to lead them to the saving grace that only He can offer.
Again, your prayers and support make care like this available for not only Samjana, but for countless others across Nepal. Your continued support brings comfort to the hurting, food to the hungry, and the Gospel to the lost. Thank you!
Balram is a young boy that Cynthia met in an extremely remote village last year while working with one of our teams. In what can only be described as a divine appointment, Cynthia met Balram while helping another little girl carry her family’s water home from the local water tap. What Cynthia found that day was heartbreaking to say the least. Sitting on the floor, covered in flies and filth, was a precious young boy. Balram was born with severe cerebral palsy and other physical challenges. Caring for Balram is quite difficult for a rural village family as you can imagine.
Cynthia and our Nepali team were able to get Balram’s father to bring him to Kathmandu for extensive medical checkups. Although the prognosis was not what we were hoping for, there were areas where Balram’s quality of life could be improved. One such area was his vision, but we faced the challenge of not having “sport” or childproof eye glasses available here in Nepal. Enter the wonderful people of Family Vision Care at Dr. Blake Hutto’s office in Cynthia’s hometown.
Family Vision Care was able to special order the perfect sport eyeglasses for Balram while we were home on furlough and they graciously provided the new glasses for free. While we brought the glasses back to Nepal with us in January, due to Balram’s remote location, our team was unable to get the glasses delivered to him until this month. We think Balram looks pretty “sporty” in his new glasses courtesy of Family Vision Care of Alma, Ga.
