Update for the Mount of Olives Christian School

The school year of 2021 ended the second week of December with the graduation of 22 high school students. Enrollment was at 396 students at the close of the year.
Classes began anew the last week of January 2022 with 68 preschoolers, 191 primary school students, and 124 high schoolers – for a total enrollment of 383 students.
Part of the 2021 school year saw the school going to virtual classes using the digital platform of What’s App. In-person teaching resumed but with the use of face masks, distancing, and frequent hand washing.
Dental care continued to be available twice monthly with the school’s dental clinic providing fillings, sealants, and extractions. The school continued assisting 20 of their graduates with their university studies by paying for their transportation to and from the university.
Many projects of maintenance were completed in 2021: the painting of the interior of the multipurpose building as well as replacing damaged wiring, painting and repairing of the fence around the high school, repair of all the student desks, remodeling of the school office, and five-hundred of the quarried stone were placed to continue the paving project of the street in front of the school. Parents of the students purchased the stones and the school paid for the labor of their installation.
Many projects are planned for 2022. Most projects are paid for from monies received from students’ monthly fees.
Computer classes are offered but the number of computers is now down to only ten. More computers are desperately needed.
Cathey continues to conduct chapel services, devotions for teachers, and the teaching of Bible classes to students via Zoom.
